Motion Compensated SNR and Dynamic Range Enhancement with Motion Blur Prevention using Multicapture

چکیده
Most conventional digital cameras use single capture to get an image of the scene. If long exposuretime is used, not only bright regions in the scene saturate, but also motion blur causes furtherdegradation in the image quality. If short exposure time is used, motion blur problem is not thatsevere, but the SNR of the final image is poor. Recent work has shown the availability of very highframe rate CMOS image sensors are available today [1] and SNR, dynamic range (DR) and motionblur properties still images can be enhanced using these cameras [2]. In this work, we explain how toincorporate motion estimation to further reduce the motion blur of a still image while getting betterSNR and DR performance.

Advances in CMOS image sensors enable fast image capture, which makes it possible to capture multiple images within a normal exposure time. An algorithm that takes advantage of this capability by simultaneously constructing a high dynamic range image and performing motion blur restoration from multiple image captures is described. The algorithm comprises two main procedures photocurrent estimat...

Although commercially response time is still being used, but in the research community it now recognized that the motion blur needs to be estimated in order to give a fair characterization of a display’s motion rendering capabilities. However, the dynamic backlight which has been added to improve contrast and black level of the LCD display could have an influence on the temporal properties of t...

Motion blur is one of the most common causes of image degradation. Restoration of such images is highly dependent on accurate estimation of motion blur parameters. To estimate these parameters, many algorithms have been proposed. These algorithms are different in their performance, time complexity, precision, and robustness in noisy environments. In this paper, we present a novel algorithm to e...

Event cameras are bio-inspired vision sensors that output pixel-level brightness changes instead of standard intensity frames. They offer significant advantages over standard cameras, namely a very high dynamic range, no motion blur, and a latency in the order of microseconds. We propose a novel, accurate tightly-coupled visual-inertial odometry pipeline for such cameras that leverages their ou...
